How Do You Mat A Photo With Velvet Ribbon?
This is an inexpensive way to give your photos a professional look. The most difficult part of matting a picture with ribbon is cutting the angles correctly and keeping the seams close. Measure the frame where the top of the picture will be. This will be the long side of your mat. Mark the wrong side of the ribbon. From each mark you will need to draw a 45 degree angle. Make sure the angles slant inward. Cut the ribbon along the angle. Use sharp scissors or a sharp rotary cutter to keep the angles crisp. Cut pieces for the sides and bottom, using the method in step one. Place the cut pieces of ribbon along their respective edges on the glass in the frame. This way you do not have to move it, since it is very fragile. Using the contact paper, or tape, secure the edges of the ribbon to each other.
