How Do You Measure For Fabric When Making Draperies?

Measurements for draperies should be as exact as possible as short drapes will not produce the desired effect, regardless of sewing quality. Step 1 Draw the desired windows onto pieces of graph paper. These sketches will become the widow plans and will contain all the necessary measurements for referencing. Step 2 Use the tape measure to measure the height and length of the interior of the window. Align the end of the tape measure closest to zero to the interior edge of the window. Whatever marking on the tape aligns with the opposite interior edge is your measurement. Step 3 Measure from the top of the curtain rod to the desired bottom length of the draperies.
