We rarely encounter situations that require us to measure the area of a pyramid, but if you ever need to measure one then this article is for you! Know how to measure the shape of the Great Pyramids of Egypt! For pyramids with a square base or bottom, you can do the following: A. Measure the width and the length of the base. B. Multiply the length by the width. This is the area of the base. C. Get the measurement from the tip of the pyramid straight down to the center of the base. This is called the 'perpendicular height". D. Multiply the answer in step B above by the answer in step C then divide the answer by 3! For pyramids with a triangular base, you can do the following: A. Measure the longest side of the bottom and use this as length. B. Measure the next side of the base which is perpendicular to the length and note this as width. C.
