How Do You Mend And Care For China Dinnerware?
Everyone loves to have good looking dinnerware for their table. China is a thing to be prized, but it is easily chipped or broken and must be cared for properly. China plates should not be put through a dishwasher. They should be hand washed and dried with a soft terry towel. They should be stacked with a paper towel between each plate or bowl to prevent chipping and cups should be hung from cup hooks that can be attached underneath cupboards. If you have a break, which you will, use a slow-drying epoxy glue that will be waterproof when it is dry. Clean the broken edges well and dry completely. Mix the epoxy glue as the manufacturer recommends and then apply as thin a coat as possible to the pieces and join them together. The pieces must be held together until the glue is dry. Once you have glued the piece together use masking tape, clothes pins or some other support to keep the pieces in place while they dry. This can take up to 12 hours.
