Kerosene heaters are a good supplemental heat source in your home, but they must be used safely. It is important that you always monitor your kerosene heater when using it; if not you run the risk of fire or exposing your family to toxic fumes. As with any appliance, you should follow the manufacturer’s directions for use and maintenance. Use only 1-K grade kerosene in your heater. Turn off your heater and take it outside to fill it. Never move your kerosene heater when it is turned on. The heater should be cool to the touch before filling it; and always be sure to fill it away from combustible items.
