The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Division of Licensing regulates and licenses the private investigative industry in Florida in accordance with Chapter 493 of Florida law. There are five types of private investigator licenses you can obtain: a “C” license for an individual private investigator; a “CC” license for an intern; and an “M” or “MA” license for the manager of a private investigative agency. To work for such agencies, an “A” or “AA” license can be obtained. The “A” license is for an agency and the “AA” license is for the branch office of an agency.
