How Do You Older People Feel About Being Lectured By Kids About “Going Green”?

I can remember being young and many times it’s hard for a young person to be taken seriously. As they approach the beginning of the road of becoming a young adult, they often want to feel important or as if their small voice is being heard for the first time in that manner. That’s why the same person may also state a strong opinion as to whom they would vote for if they were able in the upcoming election. They haven’t had much of life’s experiences due to the protectiveness of their parents, so these types issues make them feel important when we listen. I wouldn’t think of it as a lecture. I would think of it as a time to recognize their need to feel important and heard for the first time on a serious matter that concerns us all. I would probably say, “That’s a great idea or I’m going to take you up on that great suggestion!” They’ll probably walk away feeling like they are respected by someone they highly respect and it might be for the first time in their young lives. Best Wishes!
