• Lightly sand the surface with 400-grit sandpaper in a crosshatch pattern, using only light pressure. You are trying to create a slightly rougher surface so the paint/primer adheres to the surface better. Because 400-grit sandpaper is smooth you may not be able to see the pattern on the surface which is what you are striving for. • Dampen a appropriately sized piece of cheese cloth with isopropyl alcohol and clean the sanded surface well. Make two or three swipes to remove any small pieces of plastic. Allow the alcohol several minutes to evaporate and dry before continuing. • Apply as many coats of primer as the can says to or until you can no longer see the color of the previous paint and allow it to thoroughly dry. • Apply eight to twelve light coats of spray paint in your choice of color.
