How Do You Paint Straight Lines On Textured Walls?
Textured walls pose a unique challenge to painters. Normally, masking with painter’s tape provides a good boundary, but with textured walls, the line can bleed through. The only way to get a straight line is to go slowly and carefully. Make small strokes with a small brush, and only use a little bit of paint at a time. Take your time, and you will be rewarded with a nice, straight line. Put up painter’s tape. Carefully apply a strip of the tape in a straight line. Make sure it has no creases or bends. You may have to do it a few times to get it just right. Prepare a small paintbrush. Cover the brush with paint, then wipe most of it off. This will allow you to get a more controlled stroke. Carefully stroke the paintbrush along the boundary with the tape. Make a thin, straight line, repeating Step 2 every time you run out of paint. Do not get the paintbrush on the tape, since the texture can cause the paint to bleed, blurring the line. The tape is a guideline, not a firm boundary. Paint
