How Do You Perform Kneeling Bo Staff Techniques?
A great way to vary your form in your practice with the Bo Staff is to bring yourself low. When you’re low to the ground, you can execute the same movements used on your feet. Yet, this will a little variation. You can even include rolls and kicks if you so desire. Kneel down on your right knee, keeping the left leg bent with your lower leg perpendicular to the ground. Hold the Bo Staff in front of you with an underhand left grip and an overhand right grip, angling the left tip toward the sky. Execute a strike movement by slicing the left tip down. Push it out in front of you. Move into a stab by pulling the Bo Staff toward you, and thrust it forward. Incorporate a roll by laying the Bo Staff lengthwise on the ground in front of you, maintaining your grip on the staff. Tuck your chin into your chest and roll forward, bringing your Bo Staff with you into the roll. It’s basically a somersault, but you’ll land in the same stance you were in before executing the roll.
