How Do You Perform Muay Thai Style Low Kicks?
Muay Thai is a form of full contact kickboxing. The kicking techniques of Muay Thai are a whole body experience, exemplifying strength and control. The idea is not to connect, but to go through an attacker with the full force of the kick. Muay Thai kicks can sweep a partner off his feet, so use a gymnasium mat or other soft floor covering while practicing. Instructions for a low round kick and a low right kick are below. Stand at least 3 feet away from your partner or punching bag with the right foot forward and arms raised in a defense position. This means that the right leg is approximately 6 inches in front of the body, both knees are slightly bent and arms are bent at the elbows and protecting the chest area. Take a jumping step forward with the right leg as you sweep the left leg around horizontally towards the lower side of the punching bag or your partner. The left leg performs a hooking movement as it connects with the target. Perform this step almost simultaneously with Step 3
