How Do You Plant Meyer Lemon Trees?
Meyer lemon trees, with their fragrant white blooms and dark, waxy leaves, provide a fragrant and delicate alternative as a houseplant. The best option for a Meyer lemon tree is a container. If you would like to keep the plant outside, you will need to bring it inside during colder months. Put a layer of medium-size gravel on the bottom of the 2-foot container to help drainage and reduce soil loss. The layer of gravel should be about 1 inch deep. Soften the soil around the roots of the Meyer lemon tree by gently pressing on it in various places. You will feel the soil loosen slightly. Don’t overdo it, though, or your tree will not stand properly. Put the Meyer lemon tree into the container. Measure the distance from the top of the roots to the top of the container. Take the tree out of the container. Fill the container with a layer of lightweight soil mix deep enough for the top of the tree roots to be just above the level of the soil.
