How Do You Plant Spring Onion Seeds?
Spring onions tolerate the cold. The vegetables typically are one of the first that sprouts in gardens. Spring onions are also known as scallions or green onions. Once you harvest the spring onions, you can add them to salads, soups and casserole dishes. The tiny bulbs of the plant hold most of the flavor that will complement your favorite dishes. Choose a location with well-drained soil. Loosen the dirt in your yard with a garden fork. Remove rocks, roots and stones from the ground. Add three inches of topsoil to the ground. This will make the dirt fertile enough for the spring onion seeds. Form half-inch holes in the ground with your finger, and space them two inches apart. Place two to three spring onion seeds in each hole. Pat the soil down around the seeds. Remove weeds that grow around your spring onions. Water the soil to keep it damp, but avoid over-watering. Once the plants sprout, thin them out so that the onion seedlings are not crowded. Pull the seedlings out gently with th
