How Do You Prepare For A Volcanic Eruption?
Volcanic eruptions are often predicted in advance. Geologists measure volcanoes carefully, and often have some idea of the likelihood of a volcanic eruption. However, it is very difficult to predict the exact time of a volcanic eruption. You may need to prepare weeks in advance for an eruption that could happen at any time, only to find out the eruption never happens. Here’s how to prepare for a volcanic eruption. Step 1 Buy bottled water, or buy several five gallon water jugs and fill them with tap water. Change the water in your water jugs once every week. Store your water jugs and bottled water in a closet that could easily be accessed, even in a temporary power outage. Step 2 Buy professional grade particle masks. You should buy several packs of face masks for your family members. Make sure that they are professional grade, and read the box carefully to determine the protection level of the masks you buy. Wear these masks if you travel outside while ash is falling or on the ground.
