How Do You Prepare Jewish Bar Cookies?

My step-mother gave me this recipe many, many years ago. I don’t know where she got it and if it is truly a Jewish recipe, but these cookie bars have become a favorite in our family. Once you try them, I’m sure they’ll become a favorite in your family too! Using an electric mixer, combine eggs, brown sugar and vanilla and beat until smooth. Add flour, cinnamon and salt and mix thoroughly. Stir in pecans. Spray a 10x15x1″ jelly roll pan with Pam. Spread mixture in pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Icing: Using an electric mixer, combine softened cream cheese and margarine and beat until well blended. Mix in vanilla. Add powdered sugar alternately with milk until well blended and of spreading consistency. Icing should be fairly thick. Spread icing over cooled pan of cookies. Sprinkle with finely chopped pecans. Let icing set for about 30 minutes to make them easier to cut. Cut cookies into bars. Serve on a doilie lined plate. Pretty and delicious!
