How Do You Prevent Lice With Dreadlocks?
Getting lice in dreadlocks usually means cutting them off to end the infestation. Because of how difficult it is to get lice out of dreadlocks, it’s important to prevent them whenever possible. There are several ways to prevent lice and hold onto the dreadlocks. Avoid anyone who has head lice. Not everyone who has lice will tell you about it, so it’s best to be careful about whose head, brush or comb touches your head. Avoid hugging school-age kids, if possible, since they are the people most likely to have them. Use only your own hair products, never products that may have touched someone else’s head. This includes towels which are notorious for spreading lice. Look at movie theater seats and other seats with headrests before sitting on them. Seats with fabric on them, like the seats in most theaters, are the worst offenders for spreading lice. If you see small white specks on the top part of the seat, don’t sit there.
