Many fiction writers are publishing their own novels using print-on-demand services. Short story writers can do the same thing. If you write several short stories using similar themes or characters, you can put together an anthology of short stories and publish it yourself. Write ten to twelve short stories using similar themes. Examples of themes you may use are romance stories, horror stories involving children, or murder mysteries. As you write each story, show it to people in a writer’s group or writing class to get feedback. Decide what order you want to put your stories in.
