While the Sony PSP is most widely known as a popular hand-held gaming device, it is also possible to use the PSP as a portable media player along the lines of the iPod or Zune. With a large enough memory stick, the PSP can contain and play back several different types of music or video. However, because the PSP is primarily a hand-held gaming device, there are a few hoops that need to be jumped through before the PSP is able to play back video or music files. Fortunately, these steps are uncomplicated and easy to perform. Connect the USB cable to the PSP, and connect the other end to a free USB port on the computer. Once they are connected, turn on the computer and the PSP. Press the “Home” button on the PSP and select the “Settings” option. From there, scroll down until you find the “USB connection” option.
