• If your violin still has old strings on, twist the large tuning pegs toward you, so the strings will become loose, and hang lightly over the fingerboard. If you have fine tuners, remove the small metal ball attached to the strings from the tuners. If not, pull the string in the tailpiece toward you and pull up. This should release the string. Then simply keep twisting the large tuners until the string is completely loose, and remove. • Get a new string, and find the top. The bottom and top of the string should be colored, so find the end that does not have the small metal ball, and has more color. • Hold the violin toward you, so that the chinrest is facing you. Depending on which string you are changing, find the large tuner that suits it. Then, find the tiny hole on the large tuner. This should be inside the scroll.
