Our bodies work hard to remain stable, so hard that when foreign substances are introduced the body either rejects the substance or learns to adapt. In the case of addictive substances the body adapts. Neurological changes occur within the brain and the brain’ s chemistry working hard to accept the foreign substance. Eventually the body begins to think it is “normal” to have this once foreign substance and will go into a state of “withdrawal” when that substance is taken away. This is the effect one feels when withdrawing from nicotine. The body t
