Pool is a wonderful pastime and a friendly competition between acquaintances. It is a game of skill and strategy. The most important tool for the game is the pool cue. Choosing a tip will depend on how you plan to play; it can be hard or soft and will affect the shots you make. When you need a different type or the tip becomes worn, replace the tip. Use a sharp knife or razor blade knife to slip between the pool cue shaft and the tip. Remove the old tip and prepare the surface before you replace the tip. The tips are made of felt and should break off easily. Use the knife carefully to remove all the material and take care not to mar the surface of the shaft. Use a piece of fine grit sandpaper to thoroughly remove all traces of the old tip and the glue used to attach it to the shaft. Roughen the surface of the shaft to allow for a good seal and to bind with the new tip.
