How Do You Read Check Engine Codes On A Honda Prelude?
Your Honda Prelude has an on-board diagnostic computer that stores error codes generated when regular maintenance needs to be done or when there is something wrong with the car. The “check engine” light will come on when there is a code generated. To know exactly what is wrong, you will need to read the codes that are generated. Locate the open port to the left of the fuse panel under the steering column that will accommodate the on-board diagnostic scan tool (OBD scan tool) power connector. There is only one port available large enough to accommodate the plug on the OBD tool. Plug the OBD tool’s electrical connector into the port. Turn the ignition key to the “II” position. Read the OBD tool display. The display will show you the specific error code generated. You will need to refer to the technical service manual for your model year of Prelude to decipher the error code.
