Teen drug abuse is an all too common problem across the United States. Teens have more access to drugs and drug dealers than in the past due to increased increased technology such as the internet and text messaging. While these symptoms do not guarantee drug abuse, they may be clues to an underlying drug habit. Step 1 Sudden decreases in school activity may be a warning sign for teen drug abuse. If grades suddenly fall, or the teen only barely passes a class it is obvious that something else has grabbed your child’s attention. Check with the school to verify attendance records. If your teen has missed more days or classes than you knew about, they could be skipping class to use drugs. Step 2 Take a look at how your teen is taking care of themselves.
