Fill the bottom of the tank with an even layer of sand. Spritz the sand with water until it is thoroughly (not just the surface) damp. To grow cutting, insert the stem end into the soil to a depth that will keep the cutting upright. This tank works particularly well with woody cuttings, such as lavender or rosemary. If you are using it with cuttings from succulent plants, you may want to allow the sand to dry out at intervals in order to prevent the roots from rotting.
