Hardwood floors are an elegant and valuable feature in any home. They not only look great but also are durable and long-lasting. Hardwood floors will exhibit signs of wear and tear after a few years. Refinishing your hardwood floors with a belt sander is a lengthy and difficult project but will reinvigorate the look and feel of your home. Clear the floor area where you will be working. Remove any furniture, pictures, drapes and tape over any electrical outlets. Clean the hardwood floor you wish to refinish. Vacuum up any dirt before proceeding to the next step. Sand the hardwood floor with the belt sander and 60-grit sandpaper. Begin at the center of the room and move from one end of the floor to the other. Continue to work back and forth across the room until the entire hardwood floor has been sanded and the original finish removed. Clean any dust and dirt off the floor with a vacuum.
