The annual Battle of the Bands has come to be dubbed by some the “Super Bowl of College Marching Bands.” That nickname is something of a misnomer, however, as the selected bands don’t compete for first place or second place. The battle is considered more of a showcase, highlighting the top marching bands from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). To register, your marching band must garner as many votes as possible during the Celebration Tour. Only then will you be eligible for the “Battle,” which is an invitational showcase. Make sure your school’s band is eligible. Visit the Battle of the Bands website to see if your college or university is listed as a participant (see Resources below).
