The fuel tank on a Ryobi 775R string trimmer is in a tricky position: it’s tucked in between the starter assembly and the carburetor. To remove the fuel tank, you will have to go in through the carburetor and remove it, which is better left to professionals if you don’t have some prior small-engine knowledge. Reassembling your carburetor improperly can cause massive engine failure. The only time you should need to replace a fuel tank is if there’s a hole or other puncture on the tank walls. Use the screwdriver to remove the four screws that hold the air filter/muffler cover in place. Remove the cover and the air filter. Unscrew the lower and upper carburetor cover plate’s mounting screws, which are above and below the air filter. Remove the screws, washers, choke lever and cover plate. Unscrew the carburetor’s throttle assembly screws. Pull out the carburetor assembly and the throttle assembly. Unscrew the carburetor mount screw and remove the limiter cap and the gasket.
