Cooking spray is great for keeping foods from sticking to pots and pans. Once cooking is complete, however, you are often left with a sticky residue on the pan. This residue is one that soap and water generally cannot remove. It is important to remove cooking spray residue from pans to preserve the surface of the pan and allow your foods to cook properly in the future. Removing cooking spray residue from pans may require several attempts to be successful. Wash the pan with soap and water as soon as cooking is complete. This will prevent the cooking spray from setting into the pan completely. Mix ½ cup of bleach, one cup of water and two tablespoons of baking powder into the pan. If you are cleaning a cookie sheet or shallow dish that cannot hold this amount of liquid, cut the measurements in half. Place the pan on the stove and bring the mixture to a boil. For cookie sheets, place the pan over two burners to boil the water. Allow the mixture to boil in the pan for about 10 minutes. ... more
