Wondering how to remove that old baseboard trim? Whether you are installing new flooring or just replacing the trim, here is a step by step guide on how to remove that old trim. Step 1 Remove any quarter round from the base of the trim. This can be done using a small flat pry bar and a little elbow grease. If you don’t have any quarter round, skip this step. Step 2 Using the same method, remove any molding from the top of the trim if necessary. Step 3 Now it’s time to remove the trim. Hammer a wooden shim or thin scrap piece of wood between the trim and the wall. The wood shim will serve as protection for the wall against the metal pry bar. Wedge your flat pry bar in between the trim and the wooden shim. Now simply pry the trim off of the wall. Move your shim down the trim as you pry different areas of the trim loose. Step 4 If you plan on putting the trim back on the wall, label each piece with masking tape and a marker so you remember where each piece goes when it comes time to repla
