Car oil can be spilled on carpeting, or it can be tracked in onto a home or office carpet on the bottom of people’s shoes. Fortunately, if a motor oil stain occurs, there are methods available to help remove it. Scrape foreign material from the area of the stain with the edge of a spatula or spoon. Sprinkle an absorbent compound such as baking soda or cornstarch into the stain, wait approximately 10 to 15 minutes and then vacuum thoroughly.
