However, if removing the contact paper is your only option, equip yourself with a hair dryer and a lot of patience. Apply heat to one corner of the contact paper, using a hair dryer set to the highest setting. This will help soften the adhesive that binds the contact paper to the walls. Peel the paper slowly in a downward motion. Work in small sections at a time. Reapply heat to the contact paper when you begin to feel resistance while pulling the paper. Apply heat and gently pull the paper until it is removed. Remove any excess adhesive on the walls with a citrus-based adhesive remover, applying it with a rag.
