How Do You Remove Fingernail Polish From Fabrics?
Nail polish is a liquid substance made of resin, polymers, coloring agents and other ingredients. When applied to the fingernails, the liquid hardens in a matter of minutes. Although nail polish spills are easily removed from most surfaces using nail polish remover, it is a little more difficult to remove polish stains from fabric. Although some fabrics, such as silk, may be permanently stained by nail polish, you can restore others with a little bit of work. Lay an old towel on top of a flat work surface and place the stained item on top of the towel with the nail polish stain facing upward. If the nail polish stain is on a couch or other unmovable item, you can skip this step. Apply 1 to 2 tsp. of acetone-based nail polish remover to a white cloth. Use only a white cloth as the dye from colored cloths can rub off on the fabric.
