Pour the dry cornmeal on the moist oil or grease stain. The cornmeal should be about a quarter of an inch deep. Rub the cornmeal into the stain. Let set for about an hour. Vacuum up the cornmeal and oil stain. Clean the oil and grease stained area (if stain remains) with waterless hand cleaner. This is the type used by mechanics. Rinse the oil and grease stain and cleaner from the carpet using fresh water. Allow to air dry and then vacuum.
