How Do You Remove Latex Paint From Fabric?

Even the most careful painters can end up with paint on their clothing after a project. The key to removing paint is to begin removal before the paint has time to dry and set. Once the paint dries it may be impossible to remove. Scrape off as much surface paint as possible. Use a sharp flat implement to do this, such as a painter’s spatula, and do not rub the paint into the fabric. Turn on the sink faucet and warm the water. Hold the fabric’s stained area under the running water, working from the backside of the fabric. Allow the water to forcefully push through the backside of the fabric, washing the stain from the inside out. Dab the paint-stained area with a solution that is equal parts liquid dish soap and water. Scrub the area energetically. Rinse and repeat Step 4. Blot stubborn stains with acetone. Read the warning with this article, as this may damage some fabrics.
