Sometimes removing a marble tile from a Sheetrock wall is a necessity, whether it’s because you want to put something new and more colorful up, or maybe you are installing a new towel rack or soap dish on the wall. Removing that marble isn’t necessarily a back-breaking task, as long as the proper steps are taken. Step 1 Using a utility knife, cut the grout out around the tile (or tiles) you want to remove. This will help break the bond between the tiles surrounding it (or them). Step 2 Use your hammer and chisel, or screwdriver, and start in the center of the piece of marble. Lightly tap until you have fractured the surface of the tile. If you hit too hard, you will cause the Sheetrock to cave in behind the marble, so be careful.
