Changing handlebar grips is a cheap and easy way to spruce up your bike. While the process of removing your old metal grips does not require any special skill or unusual tools, it does demand patience and a little finesse. Stick with the steps outlined here to make the removal process as fast and easy as possible. Remove the two Torx screws holding the switch housing together. The switch housing is located on the handlebar, just to the side of the grip. Pull the halves of the switch housing apart very slowly and carefully. Be sure not to tangle or break the switches and wires running between them. Dip the blade of a flathead screwdriver into an adhesive dissolving solution like Goo Gone or WD-40. Slowly and carefully work the head of the screwdriver in between the grip and the handlebar itself.
