How Do You Remove Mold From Ragtops?
Mold can grow on ragtop convertibles if you do not clean them regularly or if you keep the convertible top down for extended periods without cleaning it. Moisture gets trapped in the folds of the ragtop and causes mold growth. If left untreated, it can ruin the top to the point where you’ll need to replace it. However, if you catch it in time, mold can be removed from the ragtop. You’ll need a special kind of cleaner for this job, called ragtop cleaner. It’s available at most auto parts stores. Step 1 Put the ragtop up on your vehicle so that you can work on all areas of the top. Don’t try to clean the top while it’s down. Step 2 Spray the mold area liberally with ragtop cleaner. Step 3 Scrub the ragtop thoroughly with a soft-bristled brush. Don’t use anything too harsh or you may damage the top. Make sure you work the ragtop cleaner in really good. You should see the mold begin to break up and disappear. Step 4 Clean the ragtop with soap and water and allow it to air dry.
