If mold is not properly removed, it will spread to other nearby fabrics and surfaces. Nylon is one such fabric that is often used to repel and shield against water. Nylon items may include umbrellas, tents and windbreakers. Because nylon is often used in wet conditions, mold may develop and should be treated as soon as possible to prevent damage to the fabric. Brush the mold stain off using a soft bristled brush. Make sure to do this outside to prevent the mold spores from spreading inside your home. Hang the nylon fabric outside in the sun for one day. The heat and sunlight will kill the mold preventing it from spreading anymore on the fabric. Presoak the fabric in cold water. Wash the fabric in a mixture of warm water and liquid detergent.
