How Do You Remove Motor Oil Stains?
Of all the stains that we deal with on our clothes, upholstery and carpet, motor oil stains are some of the most difficult to remove. They can also be some of the most unsightly stains, so having effective methods to remove them is a good idea. Get motor oil stains out of upholstery by lightly blotting with a paper towel to remove excess oil, then alternating between blotting with a dry paper towel and dabbing at the stain with a towel that is wet with rubbing alcohol. Remove stains on a driveway or concrete surfaces by using a 16:1 water and Tri Sodium Phosphate mixture. Scrub the stains with the mixture and let it sit on the stain and be absorbed into the concrete. Rinse about 30 minutes later. Work out the last part of tougher motor oil stains by using a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar to rinse and blot the area.
