Norton AntiVirus’ Internet Worm Protection sometimes functions too well. At times, it causes compatibility issues with very common programs, such as Microsoft Outlook, and can even prevent Internet access altogether with older operation systems. Luckily, it is easy to turn off the Worm Protection while leaving the majority of Norton AntiVirus functioning as intended. Note that there are two different procedures depending on whether your own the stand-alone version of Norton AntiVirus, or the Norton System Works or “360” bundle. Start Norton AntiVirus normally. Allow it to load all of its various components. Click on “Options,” and then click on “Internet Worm Protection” in the left-hand column. Click “OK,” and close Norton AntiVirus Restart your computer. Test your Internet connection and/or the application that was malfunctioning. Start Norton System Works and allow all of the components to load.
