How Do You Remove Persistant Lice Nits?
Getting rid of nits is an entirely different process than getting rid of head lice. Nits are the eggs of lice. They are dark in color and are very difficult to see before the lice hatch. Head lice will attach the eggs (nits) to the hair shaft, usually at 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch from the scalp, with a very sticky substance that glues the nit to the hair shaft, even nits that have hatched will remain stuck to the hair after repeated shampooing. After the lice egg has hatched, the nits or egg sac will be white and easy to see in order to remove it. Step 1 Saturate the hair with a commercial nit removal product that loosens the nit from the hair shaft, making the nit removal process easier. Using a treatment product that has a combination of naturally occurring active enzymes to remove nits without the risk of pesticide poisons to remove the persistent nits will not cause damage to the hair.
