How Do You Remove Silicone Glue From Fiberglass?
Silicone glue, also known as caulking, is applied around tubs and showers where the fiberglass meets the walls. The glue is also applied around any joints where water seeps behind fiberglass, resulting in mold development. At times the caulk needs removed, such as when installing a new tub or when the silicone glue becomes mildewed. Wet the silicone glue with rags soaked in water. The water softens the caulk and helps to reduce scratching during removal. Poke a putty knife or butter knife at one end of the silicone glue on the fiberglass. Try to get your finger under the glue and pull the rubbery silicone slowly from the fiberglass. Wet the fragments of silicone glue still stuck to the fiberglass with the soaked rags. Cut the leftover glue from the fiberglass with a straight edged razor. Angle the razor so only the tip glides under the glue to remove it, to avoid scratching the fiberglass. Wet the area as you continue to scrape with the razor. Apply rubbing alcohol to stubborn silicone
