How Do You Remove Skunk Odor From A House?
The smell of a skunk that has recently sprayed is a nauseous but familiar smell to many. Most of the time, the smell will dissipate on its own but other times if it has been sprayed close enough to a house (or sometimes directly on it) or an affected pet made a run through the house and the after smell is then much harder to remove. Fortunately, there are several methods you can try and products that are available to remove the skunk odor and get your house smelling fresh again. Open all the windows in the house (in good weather) once the smell dissipates from outside. Use fans in rooms that retain the most smell to help air them out. Wash your walls and floors with a solution of either 3 parts warm water and 1 part vinegar or 4 parts water and 2 part chlorine bleach. Do not use the bleach solution on any particularly delicate surfaces. Obtain a commercial odor neutralizing cleaner, many of which can be found at pet shops or veterinary offices.
