Your furniture's fabric is at constant risk of stains. It is all too easy to knock over a glass of red wine, to spill a bit of paint, or for a pet to have an accident. Allowing these stains to sit can make them difficult to remove, resulting in a dingy and uninviting sofa or recliner. Prompt action, as well as taking the correct approach, can aid in successfully removing stains from furniture fabric. Scrape off as much of the stain as possible with a blunt edge, such as a credit card or butter knife. Try not to jab or dig your blunt edge into the stain too harshly, as this can cause damage to the fabric. Select the appropriate cleaning agent(s) for the stain (see Resources). Check the care label on your furniture to find out what you may or may not use. Test the cleaning agent(s) on an inconspicuous part of your furniture for colorfastness before proceeding.
