How Do You Remove Stripped Deck Screws?

0

If a screw head has been stripped and you cannot use your screwdriver on it any longer, then you will need to use a screw remover. These are easy to use and quite effective at removing stripped screws. Screw removers attach into your drill chuck like a normal drill bit, however on the end of a screw remover is two notches that dig into the screw and grip it to turn and remove the screw that has a stripped head, (see Resources). Following the proper steps will ensure the successful removal of the stripped screw. Insert the screw remover into your drill. Place the screw remover into the stripped head of the deck screw. Run your drill counterclockwise to remove the stripped deck screw. Use WD-40 if the screw will not budge. Spray the WD-40 to saturate around the screw and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, try again with the screw remover.
