It does not matter what one calls it, textured, “popcorn,” or acoustical ceilings are quite beautiful when it first goes up and well into the early years after the application; however, upon hitting that first or second decade in the home, these ceilings become a nightmare. Popcorn ceilings are impossible to clean. Brushing, even with a high-quality duster that has a light touch will compromise the texturing causing bits and pieces to fall to the floor. Sadly enough, it is impossible to paint these types of ceilings due to the fact the paint is liquid. It will soak into the material and then it will come crashing down to the floor in bits and chunks all around landing wherever it falls leaving a total nightmare of a mess.
