How Do You Remove The Inserts From Carbon Arrows?
The glue used to secure the insert in a carbon arrow will determine if you can successfully remove the insert from the end of the arrow. Certain types of adhesive will soften when heated while others will not. You can tell what type of glue holds the insert in the carbon arrow by heating the insert and noting if the glue releases its bond between the insert and the interior wall of the carbon arrow. Hold the carbon arrow in one hand. Keep your hand near the middle of the arrow. Place the end of the carbon arrow with the insert into the boiling water. Let the arrow sit in the boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove the carbon arrow from the heat, grab the hot insert with the needle nose pliers and twist the insert. If the insert does not move, place the end of the carbon arrow back into the boiling water for an additional 5 minutes. Twist the insert back and forth with the needle nose pliers.
