How Do You Remove Universal Joint From A Calypso Washer?
The universal joint on a Calypso washer allows the wash plate to tip at angles during the washing cycle. Over a period of time the universal joint will wear out and need to be replaced. Once you know how to remove the universal joint on a Calypso washer, you can replace it and save money. Disconnect the power to the Calypso washer by unplugging it from the wall socket. Move the washer about 2 feet away from the wall. Insert a putty knife between the emblem on the front trim and the washer. Gently pry the emblem off, being careful not to scratch the finish on the washer. Use a Torx wrench and remove the Torx screw located where the emblem was. This will disconnect the top from the cabinet latch. Slide the top forward about ½ inch to clear the latch and then lift the top up and prop it up so you have clearance to the inside of the Calypso washer. Using a pair of pliers, compress the hose clamp connected to the hose at the top of the tub. Remove the hose from the tub. Insert a screwdriver
