Many cats and dogs carry a small odor of urine from time to time. Sometimes this is due to diet and a lack of certain vitamins, while other times it can be from an elderly pet that loses control of its bladder. Whatever the cause, the smell can be odoriferous and appalling, but usually this smell can be removed easily and quickly at home. Draw a warm bath in the bathtub and place the pet inside. Make sure the water is just warmer than room temperature so as not to burn your pet. Begin by pouring water from the large plastic cup onto the dog or cat’s body starting at the tail area and working your way up to the head. Avoid getting water in your pet’s eyes. Squeeze out shampoo about the size of a quarter into the palm of your hand. Rub your palms together to create a lather and apply this over the animal’s entire body.
