How Do You Remove Wallpaper With Wallpaper Glue & Water?

0

Before you can paint or re-wallpaper your walls, you will need to remove the old wallpaper. Old wallpaper can buckle underneath coats of paint, rendering worthless the time and money you invested in the painting project. Similarly, new wallpaper will not adhere as cleanly to old wallpaper as it will to a properly prepared wall surface. Fortunately, wallpaper that was applied with wallpaper glue and water is generally not too difficult to remove, as long as you have the right materials and at least a few hours to devote to the project. Remove the furniture from the room, or move it to the middle of the room and cover it with plastic tarps or dropcloths. Lay dropcloths down over the entire floor surface–this is a messy job. Locate a seam in the wallpaper (check the corners of the room). Using your putty knife, pry up as much of the wallpaper from the seams as you can. Remove the wallpaper slowly to avoid tearing: the more wallpaper you can remove with just the putty knife, the less mess
